  1. LANKFORD SCREEN COPY UTILITY PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

  3. Lankford Screen Copy Utility is a Windows-based program for automating the
  4. capturing/copying/saving of Windows screen images to disk files at the press of a
  5. key, and managing stored screen images.  In short, if you can see it on a monitor
  6. screen, then this utility can capture it, save it to a file, display it, print it, etc.

  8. This utility automatically handles all of the details concerning the capturing/copying/saving of Windows
  9. screen images to disk files, and the associated viewing and management of stored files.  With the utility,
  10. capturing and storing what you see is simply a matter of pressing a key.  When executed, and the
  11. START SCREEN COPYING option is active/enabled, whenever the user presses the PRINT SCREEN (copies the
  12. entire screen) or ALT+PRINT SCREEN (copies the active window only) key(s) the current screen image is
  13. automatically captured and stored in a disk file.  This process repeats each time the user presses the
  14. above mentioned key(s), until the user turns off the option, closes the program, or the disk fills up.

  19. EXAMPLE UTILITY USES:
  20.  
  21. Surfing the Internet: if you see something you like, you can copy it, regardless of browsers, image
  22. formats, download ability, etc.  Also, remember that all you have to do is press a key to save the image to a
  23. file (all image acquisition, file naming, file creation, copying, saving, etc., is done for you automatically by
  24. the program).

  26. Using commercial online services (America OnLine, etc.): same reasoning as above.  Also, since time is money when
  27. using a commercial service like CompuServe, etc., remember that using this utility can really save some online
  28. dollars since you can save a screen without doing anything more than the press of a key.

  30. Playing games: you can save screens as proof to your friends that you really did achieve a certain
  31. score/level in a game, etc.

  33. Using CD-ROM applications: want a copy of something you see that a CD-ROM application displays,
  34. but the application will not let you copy it?  No problem, just press a key and a copy is yours, regardless of
  35. any intention to prevent images from being copied, or the inability of the software to support copying.

  42. This utility was designed from inception to operate in the Windows 3.1x environment, and was entirely
  43. tested in that system.  While previous versions have also worked with Windows 95, this is not an
  44. indication that this particular version will work under W95 as well.  Please consult the lscu.hlp
  45. online help file for further details.

  78. UTILITY SETUP:
  79.  
  80. Setting up the utility is quite simple.  If you received the software as a compressed archive file
  81. (.ZIP, .ARJ, etc.), then you must first "unzip" (for .ZIP files), or whatever de-archive procedure
  82. required, the files to a temporary location on disk (c:\temp, for example).  Next, you run/execute
  83. the setup.exe program that was placed in the temporary location (which completes the LSCU setup on
  84. your system).  That is it!  You are now ready to execute the LSCU software when you want.  To
  85. execute, double click on the LSCU program item in the LSCU program group of the Program Manager.
  86. As always, make a backup of the original archive file, in case you ever need to reinstall.

  89. REQUIREMENTS:
  90.  
  91. An IBM/compatible personal computer, 386 or better, with a hard-drive
  92. large enough to hold the images to be saved.  Windows 3.1x/W95 operating
  93. system and file VBRUN300.DLL (should be located in your Windows System
  94. directory (c:\windows\system, typically).  The VBRUN300.DLL file can be
  95. downloaded from almost anywhere, if you don't already have it.  Sources to
  96. check are: America OnLine, CompuServe, Prodigy, the Internet itself, or
  97. various BBS services.  If you don't already have it, you can probably find
  98. it in about ten minutes.  Once found, and downloaded, place a copy of the
  99. file in the Windows System directory as mentioned above.  Also, printing
  100. of images requires a color-compatible printer.

  119. This file is the VB runtime library required to execute ANY VB 3.0 program.
  120. If you provide it, you are doing so for the convenience of your client/user.
  121. You should NOT include this file for distribution to online services or BBS,
  122. due to its size and commonality of use by ALL VB 3.0 programs.  If you do
  123. include this file, the setup program will detect it and install it for you.

  126. (.ZIP, .ARJ, etc.) the package for distribution to other people or BBSs,
  127. please include ALL files.  Distribution of the package is encouraged
  128. (uploading to BBS, online services, internet, etc.), subject to the

  144. is fully encouraged and desired.

  147. OTHER INFO:

  149. This package is distributed as shareware.  As such, it may be used for
  150. a 36-day trial period, without registering the software.  The 36-day
  151. trial period begins when the package is first USED, and is not related
  152. to download dates or setup dates in any way.  During the trial period,
  153. all options, etc., are available, and nothing has been disabled.  The
  154. demo/order screens will be displayed to provide information on ordering
  155. the registration code that will enable the program as a registered
  156. version (reg. versions have no order screens or time limits, etc.).

  158. If not registered, the program will cease to execute (other than provide
  159. access to the order screens) after the 36-day trial period.  The program
  160. provides the capability to print an order form, etc.  Registering is done
  161. by entering a numeric code that matches a user's name.  This code is sent
  162. to the user upon payment, by e-mail or conventional mail.  The registration
  163. cost for 1997 is $5 ($U.S., drawn on a U.S. bank, money order, etc.).
  164. The cost automatically increases by one dollar for each year after 1997, to
  165. cover increases in postage, utilities, supplies, etc.  For example, the 1998
  166. cost will be $6, the 1999 cost will be $7, etc.  Note - this does NOT mean
  167. that you pay every year, only that the registration cost is adjusted for
  168. inflation and increases in postage, production costs, etc. (in short, it is
  169. cheaper to register this year than next year, etc.)

  171. Users outside the U.S. please note that payment MUST be in U.S. funds and
  172. drawn on a U.S. bank, or a U.S. Money Order.  Foreign users also please note
  173. that the above stated costs are based on U.S. postage rates.  If you are
  174. outside the U.S., and wish delivery of the registration code by conventional
  175. mail systems, please include enough funding to pay the postage to your country.
